Deer with PVC pipe wrapped around neck rescued in north Georgia

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - A deer in Pickens County has been rescued after neighbors spotted a PVC pipe wrapped around his neck.

Resident Karen Tyson spotted the pipe around the young deer’s neck nearly three weeks ago in Jasper, about an hour north of Atlanta.

Tyson called the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, and crews were eventually able to tranquilize the deer long enough to cut the pipe free.

Tyson said the pipe came from a poorly constructed deer feeder.

She said crews told her the deer was in good health except for some slight hair loss from the pipe rubbing against him.
